Hoy tenemos aquí al bajista de Mortis Cruentus, otra de las bandas que han colaborado en los Desperta Ferro! (vol.1 y vol.2)

Nacido: El 12 de diciembre de 1985 en Alicante

Que instrumento tocas? - El bajo (5 cuerdas!!)

Siempre has tocado el mismo? ¿Tocas algún otro? - En grupos si, pero en casa a veces toco la guitarra que de vez en cuando la distorsión hace falta jaja, y la batería me gusta pero no he tocado mucho y no se hacer casi nada, pero cuando tenga algo de tiempo si le daré un poco más.

¿A qué edad empezaste con la música? - A los 16 años.

¿Cómo empezaste? - Pues éramos un grupillo de amigos que queríamos montar un grupo y nos apuntamos a clases de solfeo, aunque después siempre pasa lo mismo, la mitad se lo dejan, la otra mitad pasa, jaja pero al final encuentras a alguien para tocar.

¿Recuerdas tu primer instrumento? - Si claro, era una guitarra española que creo que me costó 16.000 pesetas jaja era mala, pero para aprender no hace falta mas que eso y ganas.

¿Cuáles son tus gustos musicales? - Pues a mi me gusta toda la música que se hace de corazón, que cuando la escucho me transmite algo, que expresa, tenga voz o sea istrumental, y de estilos los que mas me gustan son el Black Metal, Death Metal y derivados, algo de funk y algo de jazz.

¿Cómo definirías tu música para quien no la conozca? - Pues se podría decir que hacemos una mezcla entre black y death melódico, aunque en nuestro próximo disco tiramos más para el death.

¿Otras pasiones aparte de la música? - El sonido, sin duda, es mi pasión desde que empecé en esto de la música, es más tengo mi propio estudio de grabación profesional, así que si no os importa hago un poco de publicidad: BlackStage Studio, ubicado en El Campello (Alicante) e-mail: blackstagestudio@gmail.com búscalo también en myspace, en facebook y en twitter.

Que puedes contarnos de tus planes inmediatos? - En cuanto a lo profesional darle caña al estudio de grabación y en cuanto a personal terminar de componer, junto a la banda (Mortis Cruentus), el 2º disco para poder sacarlo cuanto antes.

Por fin!

Ya tardábamos; pero finalmente os traemos este segundo volumen de "Desperta Ferro!". Seguimos en la misma línea del primero pero... con algunos matices:

• uno geográfico, ya que aparecen bandas de otras zonas de España
• otro estilístico ya que aparecen bandas que no son de metal extremo

La lista de bandas se ha ampliado a 16. En esta fechas en que muchos se van a agenciar un iPod o similar los 26 temas que componen los dos Desperta Ferro! son imprescindibles. Es más, si vais a regalar un aparato de esos es muy recomendable que ya vaya precargado con los dos Desperta Ferro!. XD

Como dice Robertez de Motociclón "Tanto míticos como actuales hay grupos cojonudos. Mejor que muchos guiris a quienes les comemos el zupo con demasiada devoción.". Efectivamente, así es.

¿Cosas a destacar? jeje

Pues resulta que nos olvidamos de la portada y nos dimos cuenta el domingo 12, cuando ya estaba todo listo. Así que tuvimos que pedirle a la Rebo que por favor por favor nos apañara una cosa apañadita. Nadie es perfecto. Gracias Rebo!

Otra cosa a destacar es que Quatreros acabó de grabar su tema el sábado, casi del tirón. El domingo iba a dedicarlo Lolo a las mezclas y florituras pero me escribió diciéndome que estaba a 39 y pico (creo que de fiebre; porque no va a ser de edad). Así que el tema que os encontráis es un casi directo. Eso si, entre la paternidad de Vicen y la fiebre de Lolo, nos hemos reído un rato. Cosas de viejos rockeros.

¿Qué mas? Pues que contamos con un clásico de Hathor regrabado con la formación actual para la ocasión. Un lujazo.

¿Mas curiosidades? Pues resulta que en estos siete meses de gestación, 7 Grillos han entrado en hibernación y, en paralelo, ha nacido Spleen Ideal (a quienes podéis ver el sábado 18 en el American Lake de Gavà a las 21).

Hubo un cambio en la formación de Ragnor, que pudimos incorporar a última hora en un alarde de reflejos impresionante.

Hay también otros aspectos más personales. Para quienes no lo sepan, Lucas de Desecration es parte del equipo de Viva Puluba; ellos han grabado su primer trabajo recientemente en los estudios de Javi de Gaveyard, el artwork y mas cosas las ha realizado Cesar, de Decapitated Christ, uno de los amplis que usan era de Esteban, de 7 Grillos y ahora de Spleen Ideal, su profesora de guitarra fue Soraya de Los Electricos. Y los tres que hacemos este blog (+ó-, ejem) estuvimos juntos en Cornella viendo el regreso de La Trapera, donde estuvieron dos Cancerberos y también estuvimos los tres en Ripollet, en agosto del 2006, viendo a Redimoni; parecerá una tontada pero allí estaba también Esteban y mis dos cobloggers tenían 15 y 11 años. Y hemos estado en mas conciertos de otras bandas de los compilados, claro. Y lo que te rondaré, morena!

Y, por supuesto, está la cosa tribal. De Viladecans hay bastante sangre en ambos "Desperta Ferro!"

Interview Sabbath, "Mortis Cruentus" guitar (Part 2/3)

Continuamos con la entrevista a Alejandro Sabater Sabbath, guitarra de Mortis Cruentus que comenzamos ayer.

Ahora Mortis Cruentus estrena un nuevo trabajo, bajo el nombre de “Agony as doom”. There’s ad advance on youtube with some images from the recording sessions. Háblanos un poco de él. (Proceso de composición, cambios en el sonido, etc.) -Bueno, yo llegué a la banda un mes antes de entrar en el estudio, así que tuve que aprenderme todos los temas en más o menos en 5 semanas. Una vez aprendidos entramos al estudio (no recuerdo el puto nombre) en Valencia con muy poco tiempo para grabar y para los arreglos, pero fue fluido ya que teníamos experiencia de estudio y cada uno tenía su trabajo bien claro. Si te puedo decir que cambiamos bastantes en lo que a arreglos de guitarra y bajo se refiere: doblamos partes de guitarra, distintas voces, arreglos en los solos ( sobretodo en los solos ya que, menos el del vídeo y la canción”After Dusk” todos los solos son improvisados en el momento de grabarlos), en fin, todo un proceso de escoger, colocar y añadir. Y respecto a la batería hubo que arreglar muy pocas cosas, estaba realmente clavada. En cuanto al sonido Mortis siempre ha tenido un sonido muy bestia y creo que lo hemos plasmado bien en el disco, aunque no tenemos 100 % el sonido que buscábamos. Pero estamos satisfechos y eso es lo importante. Así que si lo pilláis os gustará mucho, ya que tiene un sonido fresco pero aplastante. Espero que os guste!! ¿Que papel tienes en la composición? -En este disco las canciones estaban terminadas y adaptadas para el antiguo guitarrista así que he tenido un papel mínimo de composición. Tan solo en la segunda guitarra de “Winter Holocaust” y en los solos. Me he limitado a los arreglos junto con Greyforce. Actualmente soy yo el que aporta las ideas y entonces las probamos a ver como suena con todos. Normalmente suelo presentarles los temas compuestos en un 50% y entonces todos juntos intentamos hacer el otro 50%. Es un proceso de grupo, de ideas colectivas, ya sabes. Pero digamos que ahora estamos dándole un giro al estilo, haciéndolo más Death por mi influencia y por la del cantante Sinergy, ya que su voz claramente está orientada al Brutal Death.

Now Mortis Cruentus launch a new work named “Agony as doom”. There’s ad advance on youtube with some images from the recording sessions. Let’s talk about this work, the way you build the songs, the changes, the recording … Well, I came to the band one month before coming to the studio, the I had to learn all the songs more or less in 5 weeks. After that, we came to the studio (I don’t remember the name) in Valencia with a short time to record and arrange, but it was good because we all we have experience in the studio and everyone of us had their job quite clear. We made major changes in the guitar and bass arrangements: we doubled some guitar parts, diofferent voices, arrangements is solo parts (mainly in solo parts because, expect for the one you see in the video and the ”After Dusk” one, the rest are all improvisations when recording), al last, all was a process of trying, arrange and add. For the drums part, there were little arrangements: it was really good. The Mortis sound has ever been a very wild one and I think we have reached a good sound in the record, even if it’s not 100 % the sound we anted to get. But we are satisfied and that’s what really matters. If you get it you will like it, because it has a sound fresh but crushing. I hope you will like it!! ¿What’s your role in compositions? In this record, the songs were ready and adapted for the previous guitarrist; then I’ve has a small role in compositions. Only the second guitar of “Winter Holocaust” and the solos. I’ve just worked in the arrangements together with Greyforce. Now I’m giving ideas and we test it to see how they work with the band. I usually present the ideas at the 50% of composition and then we try to build the rest. It’s a team process, with collective ideas, you know. But we can say we are shifting the style, going more Death because of my own influence and also the influence of the singer Sinergy, because his voice is quite oriented to Brutal Death.

¿Vais a hacer alguna “mini”gira presentando el nuevo disco? -Sí, de momento estamos dando conciertos por la zona de levante: Valencia, Alicante y Murcia, pero no descartamos la posibilidad de expandir el horizonte o de salir del país. Estoy intentando conseguir conciertos en Polonia, y creo que tenemos alguno por Italia, pero no te aseguro nada. De momento una gira regional no está nada mal. ¿Qué tema de Mortis Cruentus es tu favorito? ¿Y tu solo? -Winter Holocaust, sin duda alguna. Es tan potente y machacadora…buahh. En los conciertos suele ser mi éxtasis musical, es brutal, directa al estómago y solo dura 2 minutos y medio. Y junto con la letra se convierte en una bomba sónica del Apocalipsis nuclear. Mi solo? Me quedo con el primero de “Omaha”. Salió así, sin más, locura pura. Además, creo que con este solo se ha demostrado que a veces el feeling es más importante que la técnica aunque seas un guitarrista meramente técnico. ¿Cómo ves el futuro de una banda en Barcelona? -Hostias, pues lo veo difícil. Aunque estamos en un pequeño resurgir del metal más puro, sobretodo del Thrash, y haya mucho seguimiento tanto allí en Barcelona como por aquí abajo la cosa está jodida en todos sitios. Esperemos que no tenga razón, y que no sea así, pero por lo que pude ver en Barcelona había muy pocos seguidores de todas las bandas que tocaban en Martohell. Y creo que el problema está en lo poca importancia que le damos a las bandas nacionales, y la verdad es que hay bandas realmente buenas por la península.

¿Do you plan any tour prresenting and promoting your record? Yes. At the momento we are making gogs is the east area: Valencia, Alicante and Murcia, but we expect to expand the area and eben go out of Spain. I’m trying to close some concerts in Polland and I think we have something in Italy, but it’s not sure at the moment. By now, the gigs in our area it’s not bad. ¿What’s your favourite Mortis Cruentus song? ¿And your solo? “Winter Holocaust”, no doubt. It’s so Es tan powerful and crushy …wahhh. In live shows it’s my musical ecstasy, so brutal, direct to the stomach, and it’s a 2 and a half minutes song. Mixed together with the lyrics becomes a sonic bomb of the nuclear apocalypse. My solo? I will say the first of “ Omaha”. It came out like that, simply, pure madness. In addition, I think with that one it’s demonstrate that sometimes feeling it’s more important that technique, even if you are a tecnich guitarist. ¿How do you see the future of a band here? Difficult. Even if we are in a renaissance of the purest metal, spacially the Thrash and there’s a lot of followers even in Barcelona as here, things are difficult in all the places. Let’s hope I’m not right and the reality is not that way, but as I could see in Barcelona there were few peoplw following the band that played in Martohell. I think the problem is in the fact we don’t value the local bands, and the truth is there are really good bands in Spain.

¿Ves movimiento en general en España? Me refiero tanto a nuevas bandas y nuevas cosas como a las más antiguas y a la existencia de público. ¿Lo ves parado? ¿Lo ves activo? -En parte está bien y en parte mal. Quiero decir, hay mucho festival veraniego y tal, que está bien, pero nadie se preocupa de hacer bolos en plan gira nacional el resto del año. Además, solo hay conciertos de rock o punk, no de metal de verdad. Nadie trae a las ciudades pequeñas buenos grupos y si lo hacen la gente no se interesa para nada por lo que no sale rentable. No sé, pero una idea cojonuda sería que hubiera intercambios internacionales de bandas. Por ejemplo: una banda de aquí toca en Alemania, y una banda de Alemania toca aquí. Eso sí sería promocionarse y conocer nuevas bandas. Pero la gente no está por la labor y así lo único que sucede es que bandas muy buenas caen en el olvido o se disuelven por que nadie se interesa por ellas. ¿Dónde te gustaría estar en cinco o diez años? -Jajajajaja. Al menos me gustaría estar vivo. Pero si que me gustaría estar viviendo de la música que hago. Y por supuesto estar de gira en gira y de estudio en estudio, compartiendo cartel con las bandas con las que me he formado musicalmente y las que me gustan, eso sería un sueño hecho realidad, aunque creo que Slayer ya estarán bastante mayores para entonces jajajajaja. ¿Qué le recomendarías a alguien que sueñe con ser una estrella del metal y empieza? -Que se lo tome con mucha, mucha calma. Y sobretodo que sea fiel a lo que le gusta, que disfrute mucho haciendo lo que hace (que luego dicen los thrashers de los ’80 que los metaleros de hoy no sabemos divertirnos con la música), porque esa es la parte importante de todo esto: disfrutar tocando. Y tener mucha paciencia, porque no siempre te van a salir las cosas como tu quieres, y siempre va a haber alguien que te quiera hundir; así que hay que trabajar duro para conseguir romper fronteras y patear culos, respetando otros gustos diferentes a los tuyos y todo eso que suele decir en estos casos por pura diplomacia… jajajajaja.

¿How dou you see the scene in Spain? I mean new bands and also the older ones, and the public attending… I think the scene is partially good and partially bad. I mean there are lot of fests during summer, that good, but during the rest of the year there’s nobody caring tho keep the scene alive with national tours and so on. In addition most of the concerts are rock or punk ones, but not really metal. Nobody brings to the small town good bands and, we it’s done, people seems not to be interested and then it’s not profitable. I don’t know, but I think a good idea could be to make some kind on international interchange of bands. For instance: some spanish band goes top lay to Germany and some german band comes top lay here. This will be real promotion and knowledge of new bands. But people it’s not really interested and then the end is that very good bands are forgotten or disbanded because nobody is interested in their work. ¿Where do you would like to be in 5 or 10 years? Hahahahaha. At least I would like to be alive. But I would like to live from the usic I made. And, of course, touring and touring, and from studio to studio, sharing stage with the bands I’ve learned from and I like, that will be a real dream come true, even if I guess Slayer will be quite older hahahaha. ¿What’s your advice for the guys dreaming to be a metal star and starts to play? Take it easy, really easy. More than all, be fathful to want you like, enjoy doing what you do (the thrashers od the ’80 says that today’s metalheads we don’t know to enjoy music), because that’s the most important part of all this: to enjoy playing. And be patient, because things don’t go always as you want to and there will always be somedody frying to fuck you; then you must work hard to reach to break frontiers and kick asses, respecting the other tastes nsa ll that it’s used to be said in these caes for pure diplomacy … hahahahaha.

Interview Sabbath, "Mortis Cruentus" guitar (Part 1/3)

Era el 10 de febrero cuando LMS me mandaba el enlace al vídeo de "Maid of the Mist" de Mortis Cruentus recomendandome el solo que empieza en el minuto 3:20. Se habían conocido en Martohell. A raíz de ello, se puso en contacto con Sabbath (Alex, también llamado "el Sabater" en la historia de la banda) para que nos contestara a unas pocas cuestiones. Y aquí está el resultado. Sabbath, guitarrista de Mortis Cruentus, murciano de nacimiento.		It was february 10th when LMS send the link to the "Maid of the Mist" video of Mortis Cruentus with a special recomendation to loos at the solo at the 3:20 minute. They have met at Martohell. From that moment, LMS contacted Sabbath (Alejandro, aka "el Sabater" in the band history) to ask for some questions. Here you will find the result. ¿Tocas algún otro instrumento? -Bueno, le doy un poco a la batería y sobretodo me gusta el bajo .Aunque también a veces me pongo a tocar percusión o teclado. ¿Actualmente estás en algún grupo? -En MORTIS CRUENTUS, un grupo de Death / Black melódico .Y también tengo un proyecto aparte entre manos con un colega, pero aún no tenemos ni nombre, ya sabes, estamos empezando. ¿A qué edad empezaste con la música? -Empecé muy pronto, con 5 o 6 años ya le estaba dando a una acústica oxidada. Pero si te refieres escuchando y eso, mucho antes. Ten en cuenta que en mi casa se escucha mucha música desde siempre. ¿Cómo empezaste? -Pues como te he dicho antes, con una Yamaha acústica que tenía mi hermano por ahí. Él me enseñaba a poner los dedos en el mástil y tal; me ponía canciones de los Maiden, de Metallica, de Manowar, de Megadeth, de Purple… y yo me las sacaba de oído, dentro de mis posibilidades claro jajajaja. Luego seguí por mi cuenta y riesgo, intentando imitar lo que escuchaba de los guitarristas que me molaban. Imagina lo jodido que es hacer eso con una acústica… Pero seguí y seguí y así hasta hoy.		¿Do you play any other instrument? Well, I play some drums and specially I like bass guitar. Sometimes I play aldo percussion and keyboards. ¿Do you play now in some band? MORTIS CRUENTUS, a Death / Black melodic band . I also have a Project with a friend, but we don’t have nemed it yet, you know, we are just starting. ¿Wich age did you started with music? I started quite son, with 5 or 6 yeasrs I was playing with an oxided acoustic. But if you mean listening music and so on, much more before. You may know at my house we listen lots of music from allways. ¿How did you started? As I’ve just told you, with my brother’s acoustic Yamaha. He teached me to put the fingers in the guitar neck and so on; he shown me Maiden, Metallica, Manowar, Megadeth, Purple…songs and I get them listening, in my possibilities, of course hahaha. Later, I followed on my own, trying to imitate what I listen from the guitarist I liked. You can imagine how hard is to do that with an acoustic … But I did it one time and another and till now.

¿Recuerdas tu primer instrumento? -Sí, un teclado Casio al que le faltaban un montón de teclas jajajajaj. Pero yo me lo pasaba de lo lindo con él. ¿Y el primero profesional? -Una guitarra Gibson de los ’80, una edición especial que sacaron, aunque no era mía, era de mi hermano. Cuando ya tuve pasta propia me pillé una Academy que sonaba de puta pena, pero lo importante era que tenía y que podía tocar. ¿Has estado antes en otros grupos? -Bufff… en muchos. Estuve en uno de Rock, después me fui a uno de Black metal, pero acabaron haciendo Nu metal y me piré. Luego, con el baterista del grupo antiguo de Rock hice un grupo de Grindcore / Gore(GORETHRONE) porque era algo que teníamos en mente y tuvimos la oportunidad de hacerlo. Hasta grabamos un par de demos y todo. Luego estuve un tiempo en un grupo de Thrash. Enseguida volví a mi proyecto de Grind, pero esta vez suavizando un poco el estilo, volcándolo más al Death de vieja escuela. Recuerdo, como anécdota, que estuve un solo día en un grupo de Doom, pero no volví a saber nada de ellos, creo que disolvieron el grupo aquel mismo día jajajaja. Y de nuevo volví a mi proyecto (esta vez bajo el nombre de OBHERON), aunque cambiamos totalmente de estilo: hacíamos un Black metal muy crudo, rollo Darkthrone, Burzum, Mayhem… estilo noruego pero con nuestro sello de identidad. Después me ví involucrado en un grupo de pop/rock por culpa de mi baterista que se metió a cantar en dicho grupo. Como imaginarás, no duré mucho allí, solo les ayudé en aquel momento porque son amigos míos y muy buena gente. Un tiempo más tarde estaba por mi cuenta haciendo música Dark Ambient. Y me metí a un proyecto de Black metal pero la cosa no funcionó. Y de ahí pasé a los Mortis Cruentus. Eso es todo jajaja.

¿Do you remember your first instrument? Yes, it was a Casio keyboard that have missed lots of keys hahaha But I really enjoyed it. ¿And the first professional? An 80’s Gibson- guitar, a special edition, even if it was not really mine, was my brother’s one. When I had mu own money I bought an Academy, with a really poor sound, bu the important was I have it and I culd play. ¿Did you played in other bands before now? Bufff… several. I played in a Rock band, then I moved to a Black metal one, but they went to play Nu metal and I left the band. Later, with the drummer of the first Rock band I created a Grindcore / Gore(GORETHRONE) band; that was something we have in our mind and we had the opportunity to do it. We reached to record a couple of demos. Then I was for some time in a Thrash band but I went back to my Grind project, but this time we smoothed a little the style moving more to the old school Death. I remember, as an anecdote, that I was a single day in a Doom band, but I never knew nothing more about that guys, I guess the band was disbanded the same day hahaha. And back again to my project (this time as OBHERON), even if we changed absolutely our style: we played a very harsh Black metal, something like Darkthrone, Burzum, Mayhem… Norwegian style but with our own identity mark. Then I was involved in a pop/rock band because my drummer started to sing in that band. As you can imagine, I didn’t lasted too much there, I just helped them at that momento because they are friends of mine and very good people. Some time later I was working of my own doing Dark Ambient music. I entered in a Black metal project that didn’t worked. And then I joined Mortis Cruentus. That’s all hahaha.

¿Cuáles son tus gustos musicales? -Como músico me gusta el Rock, el Blues, el Jazz, el Reagge, el Heavy clásico de toda la vida (Black Sabbath, Manowar,Metallica etc); el Thrash agresivo de verdad y bandas muy concretas; el Black metal pero descartando a las bandas melódicas o sinfónicas que no me gustan mucho; el Dark-Ambient, la música medieval, la música clásica; y sobretodo, como fanático y músico, el Death, y sus variantes: Grind, Gore, Brutal Death o como quieras llamarlo, pero nada de Death melódico o Death-core, Death de vieja escuela:Immolation, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse,Malevolant Creation, Deicide,Grave, Carnage… ¿Alguna pasión secreta? ¿Algún gusto que sorprendería (p.ej. ser fan de Bisbal)? -Jajajajaja. No sé…supongo que a la gente le sorprendería un poco saber que soy fan de Bisbal, pero no, no es el caso jajajajajaja. No tengo ningún secretillo, la verdad, mis gustos se basan en torno al metal extremo. Aunque sea un fanático de la música extrema, no te niego que me guste la música Funky o Santana o Clapton o Hendrix. ¿Cuáles son tus influencias? -Sobretodo grupos técnicos del Death: Decapitated,Cannibal Corpse Necrophagist, Blotted Science, Yattering,Hate Eternal, Kronos, Spawn Of Possession, Nile, Monstrosity, etc. Y alguno del Black: Dark Funeral, 1349, Asmodeus, etc. Y en general me suelen influenciar mucho bandas del Death metal polaco: Vader, Dies Irae, Trauma, Decapitated, Pyorrhoea etc. Es un estilo que me gusta muchísimo por la brutalidad y la calidad compositiva que tienen, que es muy grande.Aunque también la escena americana me influye mucho. Sobretodo los Cannibal y los Immolation de antaño.

¿What are you preferences? As a musician I like Rock, Blues, Jazz, Reagge, theall life classic Heavy (Black Sabbath, Manowar,Metallica etc); the really aggressive Thrash and very special bands; Black metal but discarding the melodoc or symphonic band I didn’t like so much; Dark-Ambient, mida ge music, classic ans, specially, and as a fan, the Death, and the derived: Grind, Gore, Brutal Death or as you like to name it, but nothing about melodic or core Death, ols chool Death: Immolation, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Malevolant Creation, Deicide, Grave, Carnage… ¿Do you have some secret passion? ¿Something that can be shocking? Hahahaha. I don’t know …I guess people will be shocked if they were noticed I’m a Bisbal fan, but it’s not the case hahahahahaha. I don’t have any real secret, honestly, my taste are based around the extreme metal. Even if I’m a fanatic of the extreme music, I recogniza I like Funky music or Santana or Clapton or Hendrix. ¿What are your main influences? Specially technic band od the Death: Decapitated, Cannibal Corpse, Necrophagist, Blotted Science, Yattering, Hate Eternal, Kronos, Spawn Of Possession, Nile, Monstrosity, etc. An somr from the Black: Dark Funeral, 1349, Asmodeus, etc. In a general way, I use tu be influenced for polish Death metal bands: Vader, Dies Irae, Trauma, Decapitated, Pyorrhoea etc. It’s a kind of style I really like because the brutallity and the quality od the compositions they have, really great. Even the American scene has influenced me a lot. Specially the Cannibal and the Immolation from the old times.

¿Qué material utilizas? -Utilizo una Ibanez RG370 DX con pastillas INF de serie y puente flotante, una Peavy Rotor EXP con las pastillas de serie y puente flotante; un ampli Marshall MG100 y pedal para los solos (The Jackhammer), que le da ganancia a la distorsión a la hora del solo para que destaque por encima del volumen normal del ampli; y un pedal de distorsión Line 6(Über METAL). Hablando de tu formación… ¿Has tenido algún profesor? -Una vez. Era un profesor de Blues que no me enseñó nada, ni siquiera Blues jajajaja. Tan solo fui a 2 clases porque eran muy caras y no me estaban enseñando cosas que no supiese ya. Además, la primera clase me vaciló con un solo y me preguntó si podría tocar algo parecido, a lo que respondí con el solo de “ride the lightning” de Metallica. Imagina su cara…jajajaja. ¿Qué guitarristas te gustan más a tí? ¿Por qué? -Ufff…ésta es difícil. Pues Muhammed Siuçmez de Necrophagist, Vogg de Decapitated, Erik Rutan de Hate Eternal, Dallas Toller Wade de los Nile, Pat O’brien de los Cannibal, Mauser y Peter de Vader, Trey de los Morbid Angel,Jazek Hiro de los Dies Irae…ah, y Van Halen, Satriani etc.Pero de los virtuosos me quedo con Buckethead. Me suelen gustar más los guitarristas de Death metal como puedes ver. Me gustan esos guitarristas porque son bestias a la par de técnicos; hacen unas cosas increíbles con los dedos y no se tiran 20 minutos haciéndose un solo jajajajaja, y eso me parece realmente bien. Y luego están los virtuosos, que aunque me parece genial lo que hacen no me llena mucho, prefiero una buena canción con un buen solo que te ponga los pelos de punta. Pero aún así me quedo con Buckethead por lo bizarro que compone, por la música tan demencial que hace y por su habilidad con la guitarra, ese tío me flipa de verdad. Creo que es el único virtuoso que me gusta seriamente. Además, en su música mete de todo de alguna manera: terror, cosas absurdas, imagen, demencia, paranoia, música funky… Vamos, que es un showman.

¿What’s your equipment? In addition,the first day he tried to tease me with a solo and he asked me if I was able top lay something like, then I answer him with the solo from “ride the lightning” of Metallica. Imagine his face…hahahaha. ¿What are your preferred guitarrists? ¿Why? Ufff…quite difficult that one. Muhammed Siuçmez from Necrophagist, Vogg from Decapitated, Erik Rutan from Hate Eternal, Dallas Toller Wade from Nile, Pat O’brien from Cannibal, Mauser and Peter from Vader, Trey from Morbid Angel, Jazek Hiro from Dies Irae…ah, and Van Halen, Satriani etc. But from the viryuous ones, I prefer Buckethead. I like more the Death metal guitarrisrts as you can see. I like those guys because they are wild at the same time they have good technique; they can do some incredible things with their fingers and they don’t need to go on for 20 minutes with a solo hahahahaha, and that’s something I really like. Then, there are the virtuous ones, even if I think is great what they do it didn’t fullfils me, I prefer a good song with a good solo that really impress me (los pelos de punta). But, even that, I stay with Buckethead for the bizarre he composes, the insame music he plays and his hability with the guitar, I’m really crazy about that guy. I think he’s the only virtuous that I like seriously. In addition. He puts in his music a little of everything: terror, absurd things, image, madness, paranoia, funky… Well, he’s a showman.

Mortis Cruentus. New record and video.

A short history from the band's MySpace

Mortis Cruentus se formó el 1 de noviembre de 2003, bajo el nombre de “Dark Wood”, la banda comenzó practicando un Black Metal crudo y directo. Pronto se cambió el nombre a “Mortis Cruentus” porque se adecuaba mas al estilo que se transmitía en esos primeros años. Tras varios cambios en la formación, solo permanece en ella uno de sus miembros fundadores, Luis (bajo). Las sucesivas incorporaciones fueron aportando nuevos matices a la música de Mortis Cruentus. Primero fue Dani (batería), con el que el grupo se estrenó en su primer directo. Mas tarde llegaría Miguel (guitarra). Puesto que la formación contaba hasta ese momento con una sola guitarra, esta incorporación supuso un gran avance en la calidad y consistencia de los temas. Posteriormente entraría Juan P. (voz), un cantante con mucha experiencia que aportó un mayor carácter y dureza en las voces. Finalmente la última incorporación fue la de Toño (guitarra rítmica) debido a la marcha de el otro miembro fundador que aún permanecía en el grupo, que a su vez era principal compositor de los temas hasta ese momento. En 2007 se editó de forma autoproducida una demo de dos canciones. Esta es la primera incursión del grupo en un estudio de grabación y se compone de los temas, Maid of the Mist y After Dusk. En verano de 2008 entra al grupo como guitarra solista el Sabater sustituyendo a Miguel. Con la actual formación, el grupo no ha parado de trabajar en la búsqueda de un sonido personal y lleno de detalles provenientes de una amplia gama de estilos. Cada miembro del grupo aporta una visión diferente del mundo que se refleja en la composición de los temas, hecho que ha desembocado en un viraje desde el Black de la vieja escuela hasta un Death Melódico en el que entran también otros elementos, incluso sin olvidarse de esos inicios. A final de 2008 el grupo graba su primer disco “Agony as Doom” de forma autoproducida, con fecha de salida para enero de 2009.

Mortis Cruentus Formed the 1 of November of 2003, under the name of “Dark Wood”, the band began practicing a crude and direct Black Metal. Soon the name changed to “Mortis Cruentus” because it was more adapted to the style that transmitted in those first years. After several changes in the line-up, only remains one of its founder members, Luis (Bass). The successive incorporations were contributing new shades to the music of Mortis Cruentus. First it was Dani (Drums), with that the band gave its first concert. Later, would arrive Miguel (Lead Guitars). Until that moment the formation counted with a single guitar, for that reason, this incorporation supposed a great advance in the quality and consistency of the songs. Then, would enter Juan P. (voice), a singer with much experience that contributed to a greater character and hardness in the voices. Finally the last incorporation was Toño (Guitars) due to the march of the other founder member that still remained in the group, that he was main composer of the themes until that moment. In 2007 edited a demo of two songs in a self-produced way. This is the first experience of the group in a study and composes of the songs, Maid of the Mist and After Dusk. In summer of 2008 goes in to the group like lead guitar Alejandro Sabater substituting to Miguel. With the current line-up, the band has not stopped to work in the search of a personal sound, plenty of originating details of an ample range of styles. Each member of the band contributes with his different vision from the world that it is reflected in the composition of the songs, fact that has ended at a turn from the Black of the old school to a Melodic Death that other elements also enter, even without forgetting those beginnings. To end of 2008 the group records his first album “Agony as Doom” in a self-produced way, with date to exit for January of 2009.
