STEELGAR es una banda de thrash metal con notables toques de heavy clásico formada en el año 2006 de la unión de Cristian Zamorano, Àlex Amaya y Héctor Amaya. Todos ellos compartían la idea de crear algo que se pudiera englobar bajo la etiqueta del thrash metal americano de los 80, representado básicamente por bandas como METALLICA, MEGADETH, EXODUS, ANTHRAX o TESTAMENT. La inspiración de STEELGAR bebe directamente, desde sus inicios, de la obra de las mencionadas bandas de Thrash y Speed Metal de los años 80, así como del Power USA y del heavy metal tradicional, reivindicando los riffs agresivos, voces rasgadas, solos afilados y letras transgresoras Después de algunas pruebas con varios candidatos a segundo guitarrista, Cristian introdujo a Abel González, también originario de Gavà. La velocidad y la creatividad de Abel encajaron perfectamente con el resto de la banda y permitieron la posibilidad de alternar solos entre dos guitarristas. Héctor se colocó en principio como cantante provisional, pero la idoneidad de su voz decidió que finalmente alternara las funciones de vocalista y guitarrista de forma definitiva. Se completaba así la formación fundacional de STEELGAR, que se ha mantenido hasta la actualidad. El nombre de la banda está inspirado en Stilgar, personaje de la novela DUNE de Frank Herbert. El homenaje a esta obra literaria también se refleja en los temas Riders of the Sand y Desert Hawk, así como en la introducción musical que la banda utiliza en todos sus conciertos, extraída de la Banda Sonora Original de la película DUNE de David Lynch.

STEELGAR is a thrash metal band with significant influences from heavy classic, which was founded in 2006 by Cristian Zamorano, Àlex Amaya and Héctor Amaya. All the band members desired to create music which would fall under the genre of American thrash metal from the 80s, such as that of bands like METALLICA, MEGADETH, EXODUS, ANTHRAX and TESTAMENT. Since STEELGAR formed, its inspiration has come primarily from the aforementioned 80s Thrash and Speed Metal bands, as well as Power USA and traditional heavy metal, from which they have picked up aggressive riffs, harsh vocals, high pitched solos and transgressive lyrics. After various auditions for second guitarist with a number of candidates, Abel González, from Gavà in Catalonia, Spain, joined the band. Abel’s speed and creativity fitted perfectly with the rest of the group and this made it possible to alternate solos between the two guitarists. Héctor was initially provisional singer for the group; however, he decided to join the band as vocalist and guitarist because of his remarkable vocal skills. This is how STEELGAR was founded and it has remained unchanged since then. The band was named after Stilgar, a character in Frank Herbert's novel DUNE. Tribute to this literary work is also reflected in STEELGAR’s songs, such as “Riders of the Sand” and “Desert Hawk,” as well as in the musical introduction which the band plays at all its concerts, taken from the original soundtrack of David Lynch's film, DUNE.

Actualmente STEELGAR han finalizado la grabación de su nuevo disco XENOCIDE, del que han publicado en su MySpace un primer tema INJECTED, del que han anunciado un videoclip que esperamos poder ver pronto. La portada del dico es esta que veis aquí:
