Introducing "Los Electricos" (a modo de presentación aquí)

Hace algunos años, viviendo en Barna City, buscaba un profesor de guitarra para mi hijo mayor. No busqué demasiado, la primera entrevista funcionó y Soraya Diebra, bajista de Los Electricos, empezó a darnos clase. Si, a darnos. Una primera hora a mi hijo mayor y a mí y otra hora después a los dos pequeños (El gemelo frenético y su hermano). El éxito fue variable, como todo en la vida; pero el resultado valió la pena. Y demostró la paciencia de Soraya como profesora; eso sin duda. Nunca olvidaré el día que hicimos la clase en su local. El primer contacto de mis hijos con amplis de verdad y con una batería de verdad. Luego ha habido más, en Gavá y Can Batllori de Viladecans; pero la primera vez es la primera vez. Y eso no se olvida.

Some years ago, when I lived in Barna City, I was searching for a guitar teacher for my first son. The search was not very long because the first interview was a complete success and Soraya Diebra, bassist of “Los Electricos”, started to teach us. Yes, I’ve said “us”. She started every Wednesday with me and my first son and, later, she continued with the twins (The frenetic twin and his brother). The success of the lessons was different in each case, as life itself is. But the whole experience showed it was a good decision. And, also important, this experience showed the patience of Soraya as teacher. No doubt about that. I will never forget the day she made the teaching in their place. It was the first contact of my children with real amplifiers and with a real drum. After, there have been more sessions in Gavá and Can Batllori at Viladecans. But the fact is that the first time is the first time and nobody can forget it.

Igual que funcionó esa primera entrevista, que fluyó como una conversación de viejos amigos, funciona el directo de Los Electricos. La alegría desbordante de Soraya contrasta con la seriedad de Jordi Egea. Hasta esta noche, siempre los había visto con Nacho Julve cantando y con dos baterías, efectivos. Aún guardamos la baqueta rota del concierto de La Sagrera.

In the same way that worked the first interview, which went on as some kind of old-friends-talk, works the live performances of “Los Electricos”. The joy of Soraya (the always smiling woman) contrasts with the serious face of Jordi Egea (guitar and songwriter). Till tonight I’ve ever seen them with Nacho Julve (today in London) singing and with the last two drummers.

Pero esta noche hemos estado en el Bar Tribbiani disfrutado del concierto de “Los eléctricos” desenchufados. Y de eso vamos a hablar ahora. Es un local pequeño, intimo, acogedor, en el que nos hemos reunido un puñado de amigos y seguidores de la banda.

Tonight we have been in the Tribbiani Bar enjoying the live performance of “Los Electricos” unplugged. And we are going to make a short talk about that right now. The Tribbiani bar is a small and nice place, where we have met a bunch of friends and fans of the band.

Haciendo honor a las costumbres locales, el concierto ha comenzado a las 23:20, con los 20 minutos de retraso que nos hacen ser lo que somos. “Trabajando en la línea” ha sido el primer tema, calentando a la parroquia, seguido por “Déjame entrar”, mi tema favorito hasta hoy y al que llamo “la canción del chu chu chu”. Dos temas que no nos han dejado indiferentes (lo garantizo). Después ha venido una serie más intimista, empezando con la versión acústica de “Ella sabe lo que debe decir” seguida por “Otra vez” para cambiar de nuevo con “Un día de estos” y “En blanco y negro”. En este punto han dado paso al reggae “Tumbado al Sol”. Esto ha sido el preludio de mi descubrimiento personal de esta noche (y, a juzgar por los aplausos medidos por mi aplausómetro interno, el de más de uno): “Si algún día ves a Elvis” con la que hemos cruzado ese mágico puente que nos lleva de un día al milagro de otro nuevo mucho antes de que el Sol despierte. Le ha seguido “A ningún lugar” para entrar en la recta final con “En el Circo” y el remate perfecto de “Hay un extraño en mí” con esos guiños en forma de rif escondidos en la canción. 56 minutos (según mi reloj interior) de buena música en un ambiente íntimo: el cierre perfecto a una tarde de compras de Reyes. Ah! Soraya sigue siendo la mujer de la risa perpetua; pero Pla y Collo no le van a la zaga. Incluso creo que Jordi ríe más. Lo evidente, en mi opinión, es que han disfrutado. Y de eso va todo eso ¿no?

As usual, we have honored the local traditions and the concert has started 20 minutes on delay. Tha's Spain! “Trabajando en la línea” (Working in the assembly line) has been the starting and heating song, followed by a powerful “Déjame entrar”(Let me go in), my favorite song until tonight (the choo choo song, as I called it). After these two energizing pieces, a more intimate set with “Ella sabe lo que debe decir” (She knows what to say) and “Otra vez” (Again) to shift again with “Un día de estos” (One of these days) and “En blanco y negro”(In black and white). At this point they have shifted to reggae with “Tumbado al Sol”(Lying down at the sun), and to my discovery of the last night “Si algún día ves a Elvis”(If you see Elvis someday) (my discovery and I think that’s a feeling shared by more people, if I trust to my internal applause-o-meter). With this song we have crossed the magic bridge that bring us to the miracle of a brand new day before the sun wakes up. The first song of the new day has been “A ningún lugar”(To nowhere) to go directly to the end with “En el Circo” (At the Circus) and the final cut “Hay un extraño en mí” (There’s a strange on me), full of winks in the riffs hided in the song. 56 minutes (as my internal clock says) of good music in a friendly place: the perfect closing for a day buying presents for the children. The band has enjoyed (I think so), we also.
